Sony unveils its first Ultrabook, the VAIO T13

Image

Finally escaping its plate glass prison at CES, Sony’s unveiled its first Ultrabook, the VAIO T13. It’s set for release next month and currently packing an Intel core i3-2367M processor (no 3rd generation processor just yet), within a 323mm frame that weighs in at around 1.6kg. Storage is a hybrid of a 320GB HDD and 32GB SSD, hoping to juggle fast start-up times with capacity, while a HD web cam beams out from above the 13.3-inch (1366 x 768) display. Sony reckons you’ll eke out up to nine hours from its SSD model. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI output, and USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. Interested? Then you can hit up the full gallery of Sony’s petite Ultrabook below, with a press release thrown in for good measure.

Report: LTE PlayBook ‘confirmed’ at BlackBerry World breakfast

The 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook: now part of a complete Canadian breakfast. No huge shocker that we’re finally seeing the much-discussed and long awaited new version of RIM’s business-friendly tablet — though the slate did leak out a bit earlier than expected. Canadian Review claims to have gotten confirmation device ahead of today’s keynote. The new PlayBook is said to be rocking a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and NFC. From the outside though, it should be difficult to distinguish the old from the new.

Kourtney Kardashian: (Not) Marrying in Mexico!

On the same day that Khloe Kardashian dismissed rumors that she may get divorced, and chatter spread that Kim Kardashian might wed Kanye West, a new tabloid story says Kourtney Kardashian is about to tie the knot with Scott Disick,

In Mexico. At friend Joe Francis’ estate.

Kourtney Kardashian Married?!?

“They signed a $1 million deal with E! to get married on TV,” an insider tells In Touch Weekly, adding that Kourtney and Scott will soon get engaged “in an orchestrated, well-publicized manner.”

The only problem with this report? Kourtney’s rep says it isn’t true.

Then again, isn’t that exactly what Kourtney’s rep would say if the engagement were meant to be a surprise?!?

Nokia gets it: launches patent lawsuits against HTC, RIM and ViewSonic

Image

Nokia has just announced that it is commencing patent litigation against HTC, Research in Motion and ViewSonic in the US and Germany. It’s claiming that 45 of its standard-essential patents are being infringed and has registered complaints with the ITC and courts in Delaware, Dusseldorf, Munich and Mannheim. Espoo’s legal chief Louise Pentland has said that the company currently licenses its FRAND patents to “more than 40 companies,” it had no choice but to lay some courtroom smack-down on the named offenders. It appears that after losing its global market share crown and billion-dollar losses, the company is finally going on the offensive with its deep patent portfolio. You can judge that for yourself when you read the official line after the break.
